Hey hey! 👋 I'm Carolyn, an undergraduate @ UC Berkeley (go bears!) studying Computer Science and Politics, Philosophy & Law (PPL).
I'm currently running the EECS dept-sponsored CS Kickstart program and teaching Berkeley's CS 61A course on Course Staff and at Computer Science Mentors (CSM). Previously, I was developing tech policy opportunities at the Paragon Policy Fellowship and conducting AI + election research at Brookings AIET (Artificial Intelligence & Emerging Technology Initiative) on a SPIP Fellowship.
My broad interests lie in AI (particularly NLP), swe, education, journalism, & public service, and I'm currently exploring the intersection of technology and public entrepreneurship. (+1 on the tech for social good space!). You can read more about my personal values here.
In my free time, I write thought pieces on my medium blog, swim/bike/run on the Cal Triathlon team, and post computational linguistic puzzle + music videos on my hobby channel. I'm also a diehard fan of fantasy romance novels and Disney song hits. In a past life, I was a newspaper Editor-in-Chief, varsity cross country captain + xc runner, and a pianist, flutist & classical vocalist. I still put on those hats every now and then — especially at public pianos :)
